John, Paul, George and Ringo - four lads with completely different characters had come up together and shook the world in its foundation in the 1960s. They have stunned the masses not only with their talent for music but also with their approach and attitude that had changed the
show-business and our lifestyle - to some extent. To this day many wonder what has been the 'miracle factor' in the making of the Beatles.
Many point to their personalities...
As it happens, they are a great example of different types of personalities that astrology divides into Twelve characters within the four Quarters of the Seasons. Each of the Beatles has the natal Sun in one of the Quarters of the Zodiac Wheel.
And together they form a perfect balance between those Quarter Season personality types.
Paul McCartney was born in late Spring.
Ringo Starr was born in early Summer
John Lennon was born in early Autumn
George Harrison was born in the late Winter.
The 'first quarter' of the year, Spring, represent Self. People born at this time are naturally very optimistic, have strong self-belief in themselves, natural self-worth, are self-confident and self-reliant, sometimes to the point of being selfish. They tend to mock what does not have a stance in their worldview.
It does fit Paul's main traits of character. He is a sunny boy, well a gentleman now, but he keeps his youthfulness high, which is another mark of the Spring people.
The second quarter, Summer, relates in astrology to Family and Home - the point of attention is how one is seen in the closest circle. They want to have a safe home, show off their talents, have fun even at work, and take care of their close-knit surrounds. They strive to be lovable and accepted but at times they hide their insecurities behind grumpiness.
Ringo's place behind the drums in a safe shelter perfectly describes the early Summer type. Spreading Peace and Love in his fun-base, having fun in life, yet being somewhat withdrawn and at the same time having a caring and practical attitude - this is what Summer people concentrate on.
The third quarter, Autumn, is dominated by Relationships. For those people, the relations they have in life are the focus of attention. They may be sociable and popular, but the relations have to be based on mutual interests, and there usually is something artistic involved. They can be very diplomatic and sophisticated but can treat other people in an instrumental way, and sometimes judge them harshly. There is a tendency towards melancholy and/or naughtiness.
John is a perfect example of this liberal character, as freedom and sense of justice are also quite important for Autumn people. He always had been in some close-knit relationship, be it his Mum, his aunt, Paul, and finally Yoko. Those were people who enabled him to flourish his talents and a quirky sense of humour.
The fourth quarter, Winter, brings the Ideal World into vision in a wider sense. For these people, their place in the world, the state of the world and their role in all of it - is most important and their aspirations are the most spiritual and humanitarian or quite exotic and extravagant. They may fall victims to overwhelm, illusions, escapism, addictions, overindulgence or being taken advantage of.
George had been the most sensitive and vulnerable, of them four, as such are people from the Winter period. Very contemplative, concerned about the world, spirituality, yet there was an impish side to him. He gave money to produce the Monty Python series which almost led him to bankruptcy. An extravagance, yet gave the world the most quirky show.

The colours within the signs represent the Elements, and discover further personality traits.
John Lennon and Paul McCartney have 'their' Suns in the intellectual Air (yellow) - Libra and Gemini. They are more communicative, witty, outspoken - they can express their thoughts easily to the point of being blunt.
John and Paul had certainly been 'the brain' of The Beatles.
George Harrison and Ringo Starr have 'their' Suns in the emotional Water (blue) - Pisces and Crab. George and Ringo - both more sensitive, of 'behind the scenes' nature, easily influenced, more compassionate and yet reclusive.

The bottom half of the zodiacal circle is more reflective, introverted, intuitive. This applies to John and George.
The upper half is more extroverted, easy-going; a bit shallow for the people from the bottom half, nevertheless friendly, entertaining, welcoming. This is Paul and Ringo.
This explains the differences in 'emotional natures' of George and Ringo. George was a highly spirited person, with deep feelings towards faith, empathy, and devotion. Ringo is simply a happy person who wants Love and Peace for everybody, with a bit of nostalgia in his demeanour.
Paul is the youngest of the four but became more dominant over time, as it goes with almost every Gemini person; wanting to have the world on its own terms.
John was the founder and older, and he was at the steering wheel for a long time. But he would not make it without Paul. John's Libra sign is dependent on cooperation with other people. The best option is a duo. There had always been a duo in John's life - if not Paul, then Yoko.

Below are the astro-chart for the days the Four Fab from Liverpool were born. The Moon positions are presumptive, we cannot be sure of the precise time of their birth.
John Lennon
born 9 October 1940
Sun 16' Libra
Mercury 8' Scorpio
Venus 2' Virgo
Mars 2' Libra conjunct Neptune
Jupiter and Saturn 13' Taurus
Uranus 25' Taurus
Neptune 26 Virgo
The three key elements in the Libra sign are Partnership, Art, Judgement.
People with Libra Sun love to associate with others of similar background or interests. It is a very sociable sign - it needs to shine through other people minds through cooperation, team-work, discussion. There is gallantry and showiness in a specific social circle, a need for public appearance and acceptance.
There is also a mental attachment to 'partners' - this had been strong in John's life - be it with Paul - the most famous duo of song-writers, with Brian Epstein - as a business model, with Yoko Ono, whose presence was finally too intoxicating for the Beatles future.
However, John had also strong leadership traits. He was a team player but also a strong leader. Mars position in Libra can be a bit dictatorial; convinced of own righteousness and judgemental superiority.
The Judgement side of Libra with Mars drives some people to fight for their own high ideals. If there is some inequality, injustice, amorality - they would not sit quietly. Fighting for peace, for example, as it was in John's case.
Libra is the most artistic sign on a sophisticated level. John's many talents allowed him to shine through life with considerable ease. Apart from making music, he was good at drawing and writing, also - deeply engaged in conceptual art produced by Yoko. In John's astro-chart Venus in Virgo reinforced this quirky 'conceptual' thing. Venus on the cusps of Leo and Virgo grants a person with a notion that he is not really working, but rather doing some hobby for a living.
Mercury in Scorpio is sharply expressed - this was his cutting sly language. A mind that can dissect any topic and get to the bottom of things. A deep thinker and a fierce competitor - in the battle of minds. There is also a dark mind, troubled by some hidden issues, even tormented and depressed at times. His troubled mind allowed him to dig deep where all the demons were buried...
There is also an interesting 'negative' side to Libra. It has very passive energy at times; it prefers a gracious living and the pleasure of an hour rather than a hassle and bustle of a busy life. It can end up being lazy, idle, laid-back. The Bed Peace action of -non-action John undertook with Yoko embodies those Libra traits perfectly. The 'two', lazying around in bed, and 'fighting for peace. So archetypal Libra.
People with Sun in Libra have usually also some legal battles experienced in their lives. Be it a divorce, quarrels, enmity, fines and any other law connections. Of these John's life had plenty, as we know.
The generational planets - Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune - all in the earthy, pragmatic, reliable signs of Taurus and Virgo - all gave John very strong foundations. Material comfort was something that has never abandoned him, either he was pursuing it, with all his might, or enjoying the fruits of his own efforts in a cosy or luxurious settings.
It also gave him initially the required tenacity and solidity in pursuing his dreams and goals - to be patient, and to seek tangible results. The roots of his life-motivation were in having solid results in hand, in terms of money, fame and life pleasures.
Paul McCartney born 18 June 1942
Sun 26' Gemini
Mercury 18' Gemini
Venus 18' Taurus
Mars 2' Leo
Jupiter 1' Crab
Saturn 5' Gemini
Uranus 1' Gemini
Neptune 27' Virgo
Sir McCartney is a very very Gemini. Very confident. Very clever. Self-reliant and as it goes - self-absorbed. He means business and loves working in tandems until it serves him. In the end, he will go on his own, as we know.
Gemini is outspoken, yet not in a way of a chatterbox. Gemini people, especially men, speak slowly, clearly, distinctively, after deliberate consideration. The distinctiveness in their voice is so remarkable that makes other people sit and listen. Instantly. They form well-thought-through ideas, and there is a need to be seen as a right-minded, principled, credible, legitimate person.
There is also a sense of ease, swankiness, flamboyance and ostentation - in the Gemini men. Gemini likes to stand out, not necessarily in a fanfare setting, but to distinguish oneself from others, or even to dominate if circumstances allow.
Inborn optimism and brightness make them pursue their own happiness, unless there are other inhibiting factors in the astro-chart, but not in Paul's.
This dazzling Gemini effect subdues people born under this sign to a fascination for anything bright, shiny and new. They are usually very trendy.
With Paul - having also Saturn in Gemini - it makes him a more mature person, always above his age. This does not counteract the youthfulness that most Gemini are equipped with, to the end of their life.
Venus in Taurus - its a direct wealth connection, a forerunner of comfortable material living - it is the best place to have Venus in. Loving cosiness, sensual beauty and luxury. Mars on the cusps of Crab and Leo and Jupiter in Crab - these are inborn talents that allow him to shine from familiar environments though to the world stage. It also makes him aware of others in a somewhat distrustful way, preferring to stay in his own tight social circle. There is some stabbing-in-the-back factor.
The shadow-land is in Sagittarius that brings over-optimism, some sort of fanatical pursuit, and many hiccups while journeying the world or the realm of spirit.
George Harrison born 25 February 1943
Sun 5' Pisces
Mercury 9' Aquarius
Venus 29' Pisces
Mars 21' Capricorn
Jupiter 15' Crab
Saturn 5' Gemini
Uranus 0' Gemini
Neptune 1' Libra
The most tolerant, kind, and loving Sun. Pisces prefer to be in the background. Strong commitment and dedication make them dedicated workaholics.
Pisces have a charitable, humble, and sensitive disposition. They feel true compassion and understand unconditional, self-sacrificing love. Because the world outside prefers the complete opposite - their need for privacy, periodic seclusion, escapism into art and other hobbies or - some form of addiction - is quite common.
The trouble is they do want the world to be perfect but they would never pronounce it to anybody. This puts a lot of stress on the physical body, but they will usually carry on until they drop dead.
Their nature - truly amiable, polite, well-behaved, congenial, selfless - makes them in the best position to be of service. In George astro-chart other planets reinforce shyness and contemplative attitude.
Pisces need their own personal set of beliefs to get through this difficult job of being in the world. George's interests in meditation and prayer are only so natural and common for this Sun sign.
He was indeed the most spiritual of all the Beatles.
Although caring and romantic, big-hearted and noble-minded, there is something in them Pisces that some people do not like or cannot stand. This is 'exaggeration' - to the point of falsehood; overbearing, diffusive, a wishy-washy nature.
Mars in Capricorn makes him even more hardworking and determined, and Jupiter in Crab a bit on a defensive side. Easily hurt. Very protective of his own family and finding true rest and inspiration in the home environment.
Saturn in Gemini is an intellectual thinker, with Mercury in Aquarius connotes meeting and cooperation with like-minded people.
Ringo Starr born 7 July 1940
Sun 15' Crab
Mercury 5' Leo
Venus 29' Gemini
Mars 2' Leo,
Jupiter 10' Taurus
Saturn 12' Taurus
Uranus 24' Taurus
Neptune 23' Virgo
Whatever happens - there is always a grudge in life. It does affect the Crab sign. For this reason Crabs like confined spaces that will give them the ability to withdraw, to hide, to shell off.
Ringo found this 'hiding' behind a nickname and behind a confined space of the drum kit. You see, Crabs are territorial. 'This is my space, this is yours, and do not interfere'. There is a cagey and defensive attitude to those who are not directly from the close circle.
In male Crabs there is romantic chivalry. Attached and sentimental about people, places, and belongings. They are not afraid to show their feminine side. Caring, calm, gentle, placid, serene. Unhurried, relaxed, at ease. Males find Crab energy often difficult. May want to protect themselves under a hard macho shell.
Ringo always needs a sense of security - emotional, financial, material, and personal through Jupiter and Saturn in stable Taurus. Well, one might say, those planets enabled him to enjoy the life of plenty, as Taurus is the sign of the rich and wealthy.
The early part of life may have been an uphill struggle in some way for those with Sun in the midpoint, as here with Ringo, who had spent many of the childhood years in a hospital bed.
Mars and Mercury on the edge of Leo give some more personal pride. Supportive and protective - these are the main character policies. Venus on the edge of Gemini in Crab - this is a difficult position that brings a lot of luck or a lot of trouble.

[Note for the enthusiasts of conspiracy theories - it have been a rumour for a long time that the Beatles were an 'esoteric project' - influencing the Western world on a subconscious level. Many people call them John, Paul, and the other Two. What a coincidence to choose a name for a pope - John Paul the Second, almost exactly a decade after they disbanded. Any clues? ;)]
