Imagine the possibility to wake up in the morning after a night full of extraordinary experiences. How fuller your life would be? How extraordinary that you can travel and do things without booking, paying, packing and feeling jet-lagged?
Our repetitive lives often seem like a burden and there is little time or options to entertain ourselves. We seem to be stuck and out of our control of our daily routine. What about night time? We loose our awareness for 7-8 hours a day, experiencing nothing, for the sole purpose or resting, to conduct another day of more or less boring activities.
Why we should be devoid of an option to emerge ourselves in remote exciting adventures? What if we could explore other worlds and meet new beings on our own terms? Why to loose so much time doing nothing, just lying down flat and allowing nothing interesting to happen?
The world of lucid dream has been practised and studied by many individuals, even university researchers. It is a fact that we can dream consciously and we can be involved directly in what our dreams are like.
Does it bother you that diving into this world may cause you to abandon the 'real life'? Not likely, on the opposite, your life will gain in meaning and colour. You will feel invigorated and full of positive expectations. This has to do with the hormones released in your brain that will make you feel more relaxed, more happy, eager and energetic.
How does it work? Lucid dreaming occurs when experiencing the usual night dream, we realise that we are actually in a dream. When we are fully aware of this, we can take control of the dream. The method to achieve this is simple.
First, set the intention to do it. 'I want to be conscious during my dreams'. Tell it to yourself perhaps several times a day, then set the intention before going to sleep, while in bed. Relax yourself, you may choose to listen to Theta waves sound that induce deep sleep and change the frequency of the brain.
Upon awaking try to remember you dreams, you may write them down if you have time. Continue this for a week or so. You may start to have the first impressions of lucid dreams.
I would not suggest to force yourself to wake up in the night by an alarm clock, only to break your sleep, go back to it, and trying to remember your dreams. This is rather unhealthy, invasive practice, involving too much determination. Rather - allow it to happen. Become sure that you can achieve this and that you will certainly enjoy this. Look forward to it - the subtle feeling you will develop, will help you in this process.
It may be hard at first to realise you are in a lucid dream. This is so much an unexpected experience that many people freak out a bit, and wake up or go back into deep sleep. You have to tame your senses and adjust them to the 'unknown'. Again, this may take some time, do not let fear get into the way. Relax and go back to your clear intention.
Sometimes, when you achieve the lucid dream you may ask yourself 'What to do now? What do I want to achieve?'. Again - relax and allow things to happen. Do not put pressure on yourself, allow the dream to unfold and lead you, and you may want to start to make small adjustments to it. This is where the fun begins.
Be part of the dream, yet engage yourself in making small decisions - on what to concentrate your attention, which direction to go, whether to speak or not to speak etc. You are on a path to explore your inner world and perhaps even more. This is like waking up to new realities and possibilities. You may want to philosophise about this in general or want to get answers to specific questions. The world of our dreams may show you the answers in a quirky way but this is where the joy of exploration and self-knowledge starts.
Have gentle fun with it and do not forget good manners. What you are is what you get. Ask for help anytime you need to and it will certainly arrive. There seems to be assistance in our dream world that you may want to refer to and build relationship with. Some call it Higher Self, and it is as good as anything else. To be honest, discovering this relations is one of the most fascinating processes in lucid dreams.
