Healing Eyesight - Acupressure Points

Deteriorating eyesight is not a natural part of aging. It is certainly a part of very profitable industry of making eyeglasses and prescriptions. There is not much information available that could prevent and help to restore the proper function of our eyes. Education and change of attitude is needed in treating our eyes.

This text has been inspired by Marc Grossman, one of the leading holistic eye doctors, founder of the Natural Eye Care website service, and author of 5 books on natural eye care and rehabilitation.

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine imbalance in any of the internal organs may lead to eye disease as well as improper use of our eyes during the day. Our lifestyle causes us to stare at the screen for a large amount of time. Without breaks and relaxing exercises - tensions and stress build up around our eye balls, and block natural flow of not only blood but also the vital life force, called qi.

Regular, focused acupressure treatment has been successful in treating a wide range of visual conditions named as glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, among others.

Acupressure points for eyes are located on the bones around the orbits of the eyes. Massage each of them (separately or together on both sides) or put slight to hard pressure for 5-10 seconds, depending on your sensitivity. Omit a point that has a scar or any infection. Make yourself comfortable and relaxed, and breath deeply during the session. Focus your mind on the points or your eyes, and allow yourself to be in a positive attitude regarding this practice. State the intent clearly that it is helpful for your eyes.
